Military Leadership meets Church Leadership

Today I had the opportunity to meet with a Master Sargent who is 41 and preparing for retirement.  His name is Wayne and he has been coming to LifeQuest for almost a year.  We sat in Starbucks and talked about what he has learned about leadership in the United States Army.

As we started talking, he pulled out info. about leadership in the military that he has helped develop.  I learned a ton.  In fact I looked at him and said we are going to have to meet several times to unpack all that he has developed in the area of leadership.

Now, here is why I bring this up, because I believe that "everything rises and falls on leadership." If the leader isn't strong spiritually then it is going to be hard for those following to be strong spiritually.

Here is a few things I learned:
The Army has several things they want their leaders to become:
Loyalty
Duty
Respect
Selfless Service
Honor
Integrity
Personal Courage

When it comes to the military I believe there is so much we can learn for the church world.  I can't wait to learn from Wayne.  Now, here is the cool part, he shared how he has recently accepted Christ and his life has been FOREVER CHANGED because of the ministry of LifeQuest.  How cool is that?
