Living and Learning

Man, I feel like I am having to learn so much right now.  When I was in my twenties I thought I knew it all.  BUT now that I am 35, I realize I don't know anything.  Well maybe not anything but not as much as I thought I knew.  As LifeQuest Church grows, I am having to change my leadership.  The main thing I've learned about leadership over the past year is that as your organization grows you have to change how you lead and how you interact with details, people and systems.  Steve Furticks blog yesterday has a great post on this check it out here.

Here is some of what I am learning:

I am struggling with moving from Execution style leadership to Empowerment style leadership.

I totally agree with Steven, I am so use to going ninety to nothing with a FULL schedule, tasks, long to do list.  I am addicted to busyness.  And believe me, when you are starting a new church you have to multitask and do a ton of stuff in little time.  BUT now I am having to go from Execution style leadership to Empowerment.
The difference is when we plan an event I cast the vision but I don't have to sit through the meetings on the details as much as I use to.  The greatest quote Steven said was this, "I add the most by getting out of the way so everyone can do what they are called to do."

I am working on getting out of the way.  I will blog later about how I am growing and changing my leadership style at home mainly when I figure it out, HA! HA!
