Message outline on Forgiveness from Sunday

Here's the outline that I promised - I hope that you will grow in your understanding of Jesus and the Forgiveness He offers.

Psalm 39:4-5 NLT "LORD, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered, and that my life is fleeing away. My life is no longer than the width of my hand. An entire lifetime is just a moment to you; human existence is but a breath."

Mark 12:28-31 “28…"Which commandment is the most important of all?" 29Jesus answered, "The most important is, 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."”
“Life is ALL about Relationships”
If you only had 30 days to live, what would you ask forgiveness for? From whom? Whom would you need to forgive?

Forgiving is very difficult.
‘The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong’ – Ghandi
Matthew 18:21-35 “21Then Peter came up and said to him, "Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?" 22Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven. 23"Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. 24When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25And since he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. 26So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, 'Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.' 27And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. 28But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, 'Pay what you owe.' 29So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, 'Have patience with me, and I will pay you.' 30He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt. 31When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place. 32Then his master summoned him and said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?' 34And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt. 35So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart."”
GOD IS CALLING YOU TO FIGHT FOR PEACE

1. CONFRONT HUMBLY.
Matthew 5:23-24 (NIV) “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.”

WHO OR WHAT IS GOD ASKING YOU TO CONFRONT?

2. LOVE DEEPLY.
1 Peter 4:8 (NIV) “Above all, love each other deeply….”
Ekteino: to stretch, extend

1 Peter 4:8 (NIV) “Above all, love each other deeply , because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

3. FORGIVE IRRATIONALLY.
Colossians 3:13 (NIV)“Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another….

Colossians 3:13 (NIV) “…Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”

WHAT HAS HE FORGIVEN YOU?

Luke 23:34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing…”

WHO MUST YOU FORGIVE?

WHO DO YOU NEED TO ASK FOR FORGIVENESS?

It requires completely letting go.

Matthew 6:14-15 “14For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

REAL Forgiveness is found at the foot of the Cross!
