The Art of Delegating Part 2

The Art of Delegating Part 1 Here.

As we continue to examine delegating I want to make some pretty bold statements that are based on my personal leadership experience.

1. Delegating is Hard. It takes up a lot of your time and energy.
When you begin to delegate there is a misconception that we will have more time to do such and such. BUT the hard core reality is that in the beginning when you start to delegate, it will take so much time and you will be walking behind people helping clean up messes. The thought will come to your mind that this is a waste of time. WAIT!

It is not a waste of time if you will take time to coach someone through failure. Don't be afraid to allow people to fail. It's in our failure that God gets the glory. It's in our failure that we learn some of the greatest lessons, not to mention that it humbles us deeply. As leaders we all need to be humbled so that we are pliable in the hands of the Savior!!!

2. Delegating will pay off in time. There is no set time because you are dealing with humans and everyone is unique. If you will stay with a person then over time they will become better in many cases than you are and then you can move on after the pay off.

If we don't learn to delegate our organizations will stall and not grow past what we can lead. Also I believe it is Biblical. Check out Ephesians 4:11-13
