Got my butt kicked today

Today I had a great meeting with Brian Bloye my pastor/leadership coach from Georgia. Brian was gracious to take time out of his busy schedule to have lunch a talk about my leadership and challenges in life. Boy, Brian kicked my butt. He said a few things that I am still processing, but I thought I would list a few of them here. Who do you have that speaks truth with LOVE into your life and how are you trying to grow yourself????? Those are great questions I want you to consider today. Here's some of what I learned:

• For what's at stake, we will do whatever it takes. Oh my goodness, this is the most powerful quote I have heard in a long time. This is going to be a mantra for LifeQuest from here on out in leadership.
• Quite trying to please people and please God!
• "Chris, you've got to find a hobby outside of ministry." I needed that one.
• Get beyond endearing people to you and endear people to Christ! That one knocked me off my seat.
• Take time to disengage during the year or you will burn out. He said that me studying all the time, meeting with people, reading, writing, speaking at other churches and confeences is not disengaging. I hope I can begin to do this.
• Have an outlet for your stress.
  
• Quit being a weak leader and lead strong, this was not said directly to me but indirectly, I got the message Brian.
